Dicraeosaurus ("two-forked lizard") was a sauropod dinosaur. It lived in Africa, and in many ways it was the local counterpart of the North American Diplodocus.

Dicraeosaurus was a relative of Diplodocus and Apatosaurus, but unlike them, its neck was relatively short, no more than 12 vertebrae long. It also appears to have had a sail on its back, due to the fact that its vertebrae appear to be forked, sometimes very deeply - this anatomical feature formed the aforementioned sail when Dicraeosaurus had lived. Consequently, paleontologists prefer to put this dinosaur into its own family of sauropods, the Dicraeosauridae, rather than group it with diplodocoids or macronarians.
