Dilong is a genus of tyrannosauroid that lived during the Early Cretaceous in what is now China.

Facts[]

There is only one species in the genus: Dilong paradoxus. The name translates to "emperor dragon" in Chinese. Described in 2004, the holotype specimen comes from the Lujiatun Unit of the Yixian formation, which dates back to the Early Cretaceous. Fossilized feathers were observed in skin impressions near the jaw and tail. The presence shows that tyrannosaurs possessed feathers.

In Walking with Dinosaurs: The Movie[]

Dilong appeared in the credits of the Walking with Dinosaurs movie.
