Dromaeosaurus was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur, about 2m (6ft) long and 15kg (33lb) in weight, from the Late Cretaceous of Alberta and the western United States 90,000,000-72,000,000 BCE. It is unique among dromaeosaurs as, unlike other medium-sized dromaeosaurs such as Velociraptor or Deinonychus, it had a short, massive skull, deep mandible, and robust teeth, which seem to be made for crushing and tearing meat due to the heavy wear marks on them. It had a very stiff tail, like all dromaeosaurs, and it had a huge, sickle-like claw on its second toe, most likely used to stab the throat of its prey. It was the first non-dubious dromaeosaur found and is the type genus. It is closely related to such large dromaeosaurs as Utahraptor and Achillobator.

Walking With Dinosaurs

Death of a Dynasty

It incorrectly appears in "Death of a Dynasty" (it actually died out a long time ago before the K-T Extinction): in the first half of the episode, it is seen hunting a small flock of ornithopods It failed in its attempt, however, and screeched in fury in their direction. Later, another Dromaeosaurus seen trying to raid the mother Tyrannosaurus' nest. However, the mother saw the little opportunist, and roared it away, once again screeching in anger at his failed

attempt. Then, at night, a pack of Dromaeosaurus try to get at a Torosaurus calf. While the first two distract the other members of the herd, two more attack the

calf, and persistently attack the Torosaurus herd. Morning reveals that the Dromaeosaurus had finally had a victory: they had successfully killed the calf.

Dromaeosaurus made its final appearance towards the end of the program as one runs away right before the comet that supposedly pushed the dinosaurs off the edge strikes Earth.

Errors

 • Dromaeosaurus almost certainly had feathers
 • The Large Claw on it's foot could not disembowel prey
 • Dromaeosaurus was depicted living around 65 Million years ago, but it had already died out a few million years before.
