Edmontosaurus is a genus of large hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived during he Late Cretaceous period in what is now North America.

Behavior[]

Defensive Threat Display[]

Upon sighting a Tyrannosaurus rex, a small Edmontosaur herd—comprising two males, a female, and a juvenile—adopted a defensive posture. The female, positioned centrally, boldly reared onto her hind legs, flailing her front limbs in an attempt to intimidate the massive predator. Her male companions, standing their ground, punctuated the tense standoff with deep, resonant bellows.

Fleeing[]

Despite their combined display, the three adult Tyrannosaurus individuals remained undeterred, prompting a critical moment: if one Edmontosaur broke ranks and fled, the entire group would likely follow suit.

Trivia[]

  • The Edmontosaurus from the 2025 series of Walking With Dinosaurs has the very same sound effects of the Edmontosaurus from the 2013 feature film Walking With Dinosaurs by 20th Century Fox. As well as the Edmontosaurus from the fourth episode of Prehistoric Planet “Ice Worlds”. Including the third episode of Prehistoric Planet 2 “Swamps”.
    • When some fans listened closely to the E. annectens from the first episode “The Orphan”, they have the same sound effect as the Edmontosaurus from the 1996 Discovery Channel documentary “The Ultimate Guide To T.Rex”.
  • The Edmontosaurus (E. annectens) from the 2025 series are heavily different from the ones in Death of a Dynasty seen in the original 1999 version. It’s been updated with a crest on their heads. Only the males in the 2025 series were seen with the crests on their heads. But unlike most other Hadrosaurs like Hypacrosaurus that have true bony crests, the crests on the male Edmontosaurs are like a Casque similar to those on modern birds like hornbills & cassowaries.
  • The appearance of the Edmontosaurus (E. annectens) & (E. regalis) in the 2025 series are based on the Illustrations done by Davide Bonadonna, due to the big scales around their necks.
  • The Edmontosaurus from the original series was seen running on their 2 hind legs. But the 2 species from the 2025 series version were running on all 4 legs instead.
    • It is still unclear how fast Edmontosaurus got around while escaping from their natural predators, but scientists are still thinking how Edmontosaurus & every other species of Hadrosaur got around when running away from danger.
