Fern is a female Protoceratops that appeared in Chapter 4 of Wonderbook: Walking with Dinosaurs. She meets a young orphan Tarchia named Rose and adopts her. A male Protoceratops meets Fern and starts dancing with her to impress her. The two of them later have babies. Later, adult Rose, Fern and her babies are gathering with each other when a Tarbosaurus named Thorn attempts to hunt down Fern as a sandstrom rolls in. Fern is chased by Thorn but is saved when Rose arrives and defeats Thorn.
