Giganotosaurus was a carcharodontosaurid from the Cretaceous. It was one of the largest theropods to ever live.
Physical appearance and biology[]
Giganotosaurus was one of the largest dinosaurs ever being 6 meters (20 ft) high, 13.1 meters (43 ft) long, weighing about 6.5-13.3 tons, and larger skull than Tyrannosaurus. In fact, its size exceeded Tyrannosaurus, but it was not as large as Spinosaurus. However, it was slimmer than T. rex and lacked the bone-crushing jaws that T. rex and its relatives had.
Giganotosaurus had a grayish black body with dark on its upper jaw and feet.
Behaviour and traits[]
Giganotosaurus is presumed to have hunted the sauropods Andesaurus, Limaysaurus, and Argentinosaurus. Some theorize that Giganotosaurus hunted in packs when preying on these large herbivores.
