King of Dragons is the fifth and final chapter of Wonderbook: Walking with Dinosaurs.

Summary[]

The player reaches the end of the adventure, meeting a Pachycephalosaurus named Ficus who tries to evade danger as a nearby volcano erupts and a Tyrannosaurus rex named Malachite chases him.

Full Synopsis[]

The player opens up the book with one final digsite found in the Hell Creek formation. The player uses all the previous tools to uncover and assemble a skeleton that becomes a living Pachycephalosaurus named Ficus. The quiz card of this page is about animals named after mythical animals.

On the next page, the camera zooms to a female Pachycephalosaurus named Lily. Ficus approaches and as the two dance, Ficus is able to impress Lily. However, they are then approached by another male Pachycephalosaurus. The page's quiz card is about large skulls in modern animals.

On the next page, the player looks into the Cretaceous, where Ficus and Lily arrive at a lake while the player spots several Triceratops grazing close by. A rival Pachycephalosaurus approaches Ficus and challenges him over Lily. This is soon interrupted when another Pachycephalosaurus appears while narrowly escaping from a Tyrannosaurus rex named Malachite. The volcano then erupts and while running away, Ficus and Lily are separated.

The player finds a volcano on the next page. The player takes a closer look and learns about how it works.

The next page opens to show Ficus all alone with the surrounding landscape having been devastated by the volcano. Malachite appears and chases Ficus. The player helps Ficus dodge falling rocks and trees while Malachite continues to give chase. Luckily, a volcanic rock causes a tree to fall on Malachite, giving Ficus the opportunity to escape. The page's quiz card is about the discovery of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The first half of the chapter ends with a 5 question quiz on the chapter.

The second half of the chapter starts with the player looking into Hell Creek, where the landscape has been scorched by the volcano. The player spots a Triceratops that has found one of the few grazing spots untouched by the volcano. The volcano continues to erupt, causing rocks to fall nearby. The player spots Ficus and a flock of Alexornis. Malachite soon arrives and fights the Triceratops while Ficus flees. The ceratopsian is weakened from the smoke and malnutrition and the T.rex has no problem killing it.

On the next page, when Ficus is again spotted by Malachite, he attempts to run only to get stuck under a fallen tree. The player is able to distract the tyrant lizard long enough for Ficus to free himself. After Ficus escapes, Malachite now focuses on the player. The player roars back at Malachite, which is enough to make the predator back down and run away. The page's quiz card is about the loudest modern bird.

The next page opens up to show a lava flow with little vegetation nearby where a Triceratops grazes while Alphadons are hidden. Ficus crosses the lava flow and with help from the player, is able to get past the larger herbivore and get some food. Ficus then hides as Malachite appears again and kills the Triceratops. Ficus catches Malachite off guard and headbutts the Tyrannosaurus into the lava flow. Malachite burns in the lava and dies, while Ficus watches. The quiz of this page is about the longest horns in modern day animals.

The next page shows Ficus still alone, before is then in the middle of a stampede of Triceratops. The player again helps Ficus avoid rocks and fallen trees. Ficus finally finds shelter and is reunited with Lily. The page's quiz card is about the largest footprint of modern animals.

The player turns to page to see a globe of Earth 65 million years ago, floating above the book. After an asteroid impact, the player learns about the effects of the impact and the extinction of the dinosaurs

The player takes one final quiz about the chapter. After completing the quiz, the player watches a peaceful scene of Ficus and Lily along with Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus and Alexornis. The two narrators remark how the dinosaurs would go on to evolve into birds and roam the earth today. The player reaches the end of the story and the chapter ends.
