Leptictidium is a prehisotirc animal in Impossible Pictures. They are small, early mammals that hop like kangaroos but are not related to them or any other animal living today for that matter. Leptictidium resembles elephant shrews, which can still be found today. Since this is a small animal, and it has many natural enemies, they hunt in dusk and dawn, searching for insects, and small vertebrates. Leptictidium mother cares for her young for some time, since they are born developed for jumping and running. Even though dinosaur we're extinct before this mammal evolved (through its ancestor existed with the dinosaurs), descendants of dinosaurs, massive flightless birds such as Gastornis ate anything smaller, including Leptictidium and primitive horses incuding Propalaeotherium. To hide from such dangerous, day hunting animals Leptictidium spend most of the day in their nests, sometimes found in roots of trees. The one seen in Walking with Beasts are white, but have brown upper parts with white horizontal stripes.
