Lizards (Scleroglos and Lacertilia) are suborders of the order Squamata. Although they appear to resemble
reptiles such as Euparkeria and Petrolacosaurus, lizards evolved much later in evolutionary time, and evolved during the Late Jurassic, about the same time as the evolution of birds. Most lizards were egg-laying animals, but some may have given birth to live young instead.
During the Late Cretaceous, some lizards, such as Mosasaurs, adapted to posses an aquatic lifestyle.
