Megatherium was a giant ground sloth, featured on WWB. As big as an elephant, it lived in South America during the Pliocene-Pleistocene periods alongside Smilodon, Doedicurus, and other South American megafauna.

Facts

A member of the Xenarthran mammal family (along with Doedicurus), Megatherium had huge claws, grew to 6-8 meters long from nose to tail, weighed more than an elephant and usually ate plants, but it was also big and strong enough to eat carrion, on occasion, to supplement its diet, not unlike the short-faced bear of North America, and when it wanted to, nothing got in its' way.

Megatherium had armor-plated skin for defense and powerful clawed forelimbs for attack. Regardless of that, Megatherium died out 8000 yrs ago, during the Pleistocene time period. There are rumors that they may've survived in modern times as the Mapinguara cryptid, but that is unknown.

Saber Tooth

A pair of megatheres is shown feeding on trees, while Half-Tooth the Smilodon gives them a wide berth. Later on, another Megatherium kills another Smilodon in a fight over carrion.
