Terror in the Swamp is the thrid chapter of Wonderbook: Walking with Dinosaurs.
Summary[]
The player is on another prehistoric adevnture, meeting a Stegosaurus named Kula as he tries to find his father.
Full Synopsis[]
On the first page, another digsite has been uncovered in the Bone Cabin Quarry of Wyoming. The rocks this time is harder, with the player needing to use a new tool, the saw to break through the first layer of rock. After breaking the remaining rocks with the hammer and sweeping the dirt of the fossils, the remains of a Stegosaurus is uncovered and assembled with the gribber tool. The plated herbivore comes to life. The page's quiz card is about the oldest fossil.
On the next page, the player looks in the Jurassic period, spotting huge Dragonflies and some massive Diplodocus. An adolesent Stegosaurus named Kula comes by, followed by his father named Farallon. A hungry Ceratosaurus named Cactus attacks them. The predator ducks under Farallon's thagomizer and then pursues Kula who in the conufsion, ends up fleeing in the oppisite direction Farallon ran. The father and son are sperated and Kula is now lost in the swamp.
The next page is an x-ray page and the player scans a Stegosaurus to spot four body parts. The player finds the dinosaur's plates, brain, stomach and spikes.
A scale weight is on the following page, with a Stegosaurus on one end. The player uses the gripper tool to place vehicles. The page's quiz card is about thick skin in animals today
On the next page, the player is now in the swamp. Kula is scared and alone. The player calls him over and feed him plants to calm him down. After being fed, Kula peacefully goes to sleep. The page's quiz card is about varity in modern ecosystems.
The first half of the chpater ends with another five question quiz.
In the second half of the chapter, another screen opens to show a lake in the Jurassic. The player spots some more Diplodocus as Kula walks past the lake. After spotting more dragonflies and Lepidotes, Farallon passes by the lake but only after Kula passed.
The next page opens up into a watering hole where Farallon must stop to drink. An Allosaurus appears and stalks the old bull. Farallon swipes his tail at the carnivore, injuring the theropod who then flees. The page's quiz card about natrual wepons in modern day animals.
The next page is another x-ray. The player scans an Allosaurus to find four body parts. The player completes the task after finding the dinosaur's fangs, claws, arms and leg bones.
On the next page, the player looks into the Jurassic, spotting Kula at the nesting grounds where other Stegosaurus are. Farallon arrives and finally finds his son. Unfortunately, Cactus has followed Kula here and to make matters worse, the Allosaurus is also here, having tracked down Farallon. The Stegosaurus herd flee, leaving the predators far behind.
On next page, the player watches Cactus fight the Allosaurus, with the player helping Cactus. The Allosaurus flees and ends up struggling in the water. The quiz card is about predatory animal's teritory today.
The chapter ends with another quiz. After finshing fhe quiz, the player gets a last look at Kula and Farallon moving the safer grazing grounds while an Allosaurus roars far behind them and chapter ends.
