The Great Exodus is the first chapter of Wonderbook: Walking with Dinosaurs.
Summary[]
The player starts an adventure into the past with two narrators, encountering a young Pachyrhinosaurus named Patchi and a ferocious Gorgosaurus named Gorgon.
Full Synopsis[]
The chapter starts with the player who is accompannied by a male and female narrator who introduce the player to the book. The player opens the book to the first page and the controller has become a magic torch. The adventure is soon underway.
After clicking on one of the images, the page soon becomes a digsite in the Canadian badlands of Horseshoe Canyon. The uses the controller which into a serval tools to dig up the fossils. The player uses the hammer to smash rocks, followed by the brush to dust the dirt off the fossils. After digging up the skeletal remains, the players pieces the skeleton together, using the gripper tool. The skeleton becomes a living Gorgosaurus named Gorgon. The player earns the first fact card of the game.
After completing the first activity, a new activity is unlocked. Gorgon's foot stomps into veiw and the camera sooms out with the player now within a window while Gorgon lingers near. If the player stands still, Gorgon will leave them alone and if they move too much, Gorgon will attack and throw them into the mud.
The player moves onto the second page with another game. A screen opens up as the player looks 75 million years into the past and uses the magic torch to spot different animals. The player spots a prehistoric bird named Alexornis. Three Pachyrhinosaurus named Oak, Patchi, and Juniper arrive while some Alphadon are hidden near by and a huge Edmontosaurus walks past. In the distance, Gorgon attempts to get some food and duels a Pentaceratops. After spotting the ancient fauna, the player earns more fact cards.
On the next page, the book opens up into a part the prehistoric world. Patchi grazes on plants while Juniper sneaks up on him only to be greeted with a fart. Oak soon joins them. Using the gripper tool agian, the player finds a horsetail, a cycad and a fern, and places them on the other side of the page with the corresponding image. Juniper tries to join Patchi, only for Oak to split the two apart.
A new game is unlcoked after this. The camera agian zooms out with the player now a forest with Juniper, while a Pentaceratops grazes nearby. In an effort to cheer up Juniper the player uses the gripper tool to gives her plants.
The next page opens up into part of the ancient floodplains where the Pachyrhinosaurus herd spend their summer. The player helps one of the males attract a mate by roaring, to which a female roars back in repsonse. Patchi who is now an adult arrives and spots Juniper who has also grown up and seems interested in him. A rival male approaches and rams down a tree to show his dominance. Patchi knocks down two trees and impresses Juniper. After the activity is finshed, the player comes across the first quiz card, which is about the loudest modern day animal.
On the next page, the camera zooms out as the player helps Patchi fight the rival male. Patchi ends up the victor but both are left tired. Gorgon arrives and uses this oppertunity kill Patchi's rival and eat. The quiz card following is about head-butting animals of today.
The first half of the chapter ends with a five question quiz on the information given throughout the chpater so far.
Continuing with the second half the chpater, another screen is opened on the next page. ThePachyrhinosaurus herd is crossing a river on their migration. The player spots an orphan named Willow who after Oak's death, was looked over by Patchi . One of the adults is grabbed by the jaws of a hunrgy Deinosuchus. The player watches as another three Pachyrhinosaurus are killed by more of the terrible crocodiles. Luckily, Patchi along with Juniper and Willow cross the river safely, while Gorgon wacthes the herd from a cliff in the distance.
On the following page, the player uses the controller, which is now an x-ray scanner to identify four body of Patchi's body parts. After finding the leg bone, beak, stomach and skull, another fpur fact cards are given.
The next page opens up to show Willow having her first experience with a big storm. She ends up being trapped in the mud. With help from the player, she calls Juniper. Juniper frees the young dinosaur. Unfortunatly lightning stikes a tree nearby, seperating Juniper and Willow. Patchi arrives and breaks the tree. The player soon discovers Gorgosaurus tracks nearby. Gorgon along with his packmate approaches the trio. The page's quiz card is about prehistoric weather.
The page after is another x-ray page, this time with Gorgon. The body parts that the player needs to find are Gorgon's teeth, leg bones, eyes and tail.
The next page is another battle page. This time, Gorgon attacks the herd and Patchi fights him. After the battle, the rest of the herd join Patchi and Gorgon retreats. The page's quiz card is about large predators of modern day.
The second half of the chapter ends with another quiz on the chpater. After the quiz, the players gets one last look at Patchi and Juniper who have learned how to surive and the chapter ends.
