The Vindelicisch Islands was an island chain that existed 149 million years ago in the Late Jurassic period. It was located around the edges of the Tethys ocean west of Siberia. The waters around the were cooler and more oxygen rich than many of the currents of the epicontinental sea at the time, making conditions for marine life to thrive. Eventually, the Vindelicisch Islands and many other nearby islands would form modern day Europe, with the Vindelicisch Islands becoming the Oxford Clay.[1]
